From first being introduced to South Africa by the late AKA, winning Mzansi’s hearts and cementing his fanbase to later becoming one of the biggest artists in the world, it looks like Mzansi has revoked its support for Burna Boy with his Joburg show now canceled.

Burna Boy Show Overview
As we previously reported, Burna Boy was scheduled to perform at his Joburg Show in South Africa at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, September 23 which had a lot of his fans thrilled. On social media, it appeared as if the ticket sales were going well based on the talks around the show.
Besides the regular promo, several fans were also showing off their tickets which created more FOMO but we recently found out that the sales weren’t even more than 1,500 while the venue has a capacity of 90,000+ people.

Reasons Of Canceling The Show
Initially, the show had been postponed to December 16, 2023, which we think was the worst day to pick as it is the Day of Reconciliation in South Africa and there are usually all types of events in all corners of the country which are cheaper and jam-packed with a lot of Mzansi’ favorite artists.
Low and disappointing ticket sales are the most obvious reasons why the show was canceled and it was officially reported that the promoters of the show were not able to fulfill their contractual, financial, production, and technical obligations in time.
The management conceded that the agreed production standard needed for the venue size could not be achieved thus the cancellation decision was made after postponements. TicketPro immediately seized all sales of tickets to the show.
Here’s How Mzansi Reacted
Back in 2019, he vowed to never step foot into South Africa again following xenophobic attacks against his fellow Nigerian nationals in South Africa. In his words, he said, “And I will NOT EVER go to South Africa again for any reason until the SOUTH AFRICAN government wakes the f*ck up and really performs A miracle because I don’t know how they can even possibly fix this.”
