Donell Mbele appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court facing two counts of rape. These charges were filed by his ex-girlfriend, who is reportedly underage.
The incidents allegedly occurred on December 14 and 15, 2024, at his residence in Morningside, Johannesburg. He was granted bail of R1,000 and is scheduled to return to court on February 10, 2025, for further proceedings.

Before the rape allegations, Donell was accused of physically assaulting another ex-girlfriend, Reokeditswe Makete, in 2022. However, those charges were dropped after Makete failed to appear in court multiple times.
There has been public outcry regarding the relatively low bail amount, especially considering the nature of the charges and Donell’s previous legal issues involving allegations of abuse by another ex-girlfriend, which were ultimately dropped due to the complainant’s failure to appear in court.
