About the Album
MatterMoreForSis inherently tells the story of a woman and her different experiences with unrequited love. This album uses the power of a double-barreled title to reference metamorphosis – a scientific transformation from an immature to an adult form in distinct stages.
The album draws parallels with metamorphosis in two ways. First, it narrates a love story where the protagonist transitions through various stages of grief after being heartbroken. She is angry, depressed, and unwilling to love before slowly accepting her fate, finding her path, and loving again.
The eleven-track album uses a dynamic fusion of disparate tempos, tones, and moods to convey this transformation message. Listeners get a front-row seat into the journey with the protagonist, where the story begins with heartbreak but transitions through self-discovery and recovery. The album consists of ballads, breakup paeans, and up-tempo tunes to draw empathy and engagement from the listener during this voyage.
Listening Session
Joy held one of the most exquisite listening sessions we have ever seen in Zimbabwe. The listening session was held at Sabela Studio in Bulawayo. Some notable personalities at the event include Asaph, Gilmore Tee, Tinashe Charleson, Msizkay, Tino, Lady Tshawe, and many more!
