The world-class MultiChoice and Bomb Productions film follows the true story of the legendary African King, Shaka Zulu. Season 1 with its 12 episodes focused on the events that took place leading to Shaka’s birth, childhood, and the beginning of his reign.
Multiple episodes of season 1 peaked at number one on all DSTV African countries such as Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, and others with its first episode attracting over 3.6 million viewers.

Interesting Facts About Season 1
Season 1 of Shaka iLembe was shot over a period of 138 days. Set designs were done 8 months before the shoot and the sets were bult over a period of 7 months. The season had 5 directors and computer-generated imagery (CGI) was used for some scenes. In terms of the cast, 250 actors and actresses were credited and there were 8000 extras.
What To Expect On Season 2
According to a press statement published by MultiChoice, season 1 of Shaka iLembe focused on the origins of the legendary African King Shaka Zulu, building up to his victorious return to take the Zulu throne. Season 2 will pick up the story from the beginning of his long prophesied reign, writing himself into the history books.
