On July 19, 2023, DJ Sbu announced his sealed distribution deal with Shoprite / Checkers for his energy drink, Mofaya. This deal will see Mofaya make its way to the retailers’ shelves throughout South Africa, which is a big win for Mofaya and Shoprite itself as Mofaya already has a huge market share.
Talking about Mofaya’s huge market share, it is surprising that it took nine years to make it to Shoprite’s shelves and it’s still not available at the other major South African retailers. This is a game-changing deal for local beverage deals whether alcoholic or not and we believe it has paved the way for others.

DJ Sbu’s Mofaya and MacG’s Grandeur are some of the most selling and preferred local brands which should have been on all the major retailer’s shelves a long time ago but we are happy that we may be getting there with this deal.
Having began its operation back in 2014 with one flavor called Original. To date MoFaya has over 8 more flavors that were introduced over the years with the latest flavor being Flavatron (guava apple) in partnership with Robot Boii who conceptualized and created the taste profile of the flavor.
Robot Boii has been one of the big names that have promoted MoFaya since it began operating in 2014 and when he was also still on the come up. One of Robot Boii’s cars is branded in MoFaya and you are likely to see him with something affiliated with MoFaya be it on pictures, videos, events, etc.
