Inside Durban July 2023

Since 1897, the first weekend of every July in South Africa belongs to Durban July, and 2023 was not any different. From horse races, and punters to performances and fashion, Durban July is one of the annual events you are likely to meet all your favorite celebrities from all spheres of the entertainment industry.

This year’s Durban July was held on the 1st at the Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse in Durban, South Africa. Launched as a poem each year, the 2023 theme was ‘Out Of This World’ hinting at the stargates which transport one into a mysterious world far beyond our imagination and best believe many of our favorite celebrities (4+4) ate the looks!

Somizi, as we know him, had an outstanding grand entrance and changed his outfits several times as you shall see on our gallery below. In every competition there is always a winner (umanqoba), and amongst all the dazzling looks Jessica Nkosi came on top as the Best Dressed.

Talking about Best Dressed, there is still a long way to go for our male celebrities. It is well-known and evident that although we do have a few male celebrities who are known to nail their looks at such prestigious or fashion-dominated events, women always go the extra mile.

Somizi’s Grand Entrance and Gallery

SomGAGA is one of the males you can bet on to go the extra mile in making sure his presence is felt and his outfits are headlines for weeks which is exactly what he did this year’s Durban July. We counted a total of 7 outfits that he changed into throughout the event. Talking about being extra and out of this world, the entertainment mogul looked like a character from a sci-fi movie but in real life.
