Welcome to the Summer of Woe: Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) is officially returning to your screens, with Part 1 of Season 2 debuting on Aug. 6, followed by Part 2 on Sept. 3. 

“This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,” creators and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar tell Tudum.  

A new teaser for WednesdaySeason 2, is available below. It promises as much. Nevermore Academy’s No. 1 teen detective is joined by familiar faces and thrilling new additions. “We look forward to exploring more Addams Family lore, and are excited to introduce an eclectic lineup of incredible new characters,” Gough and Millar say.

Cast members Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) previously appeared in a Geeked Week 2024 featurette, along with director and executive producer Tim Burton

What Is Wednesday Season 2 About?

Wednesday Addams (Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery. 

“Season 2 will be delightfully dark, kooky, and mysterious,” showrunners Gough and Millar reveal. “If we told you why, Wednesday would kill us. So our lips are sealed.” 

When Wednesday Season 2 was renewed in January 2023, the show promised more “torture” ahead in an announcement video. Naturally, super sleuth Wednesday wouldn’t have it any other way. 

“[Wednesday] sticks to her guns, and she’s not out to please anybody,” Ortega told Tudum in February 2023. “Which, as someone who used to be an immense people pleaser, I respect.” 

It’s clear Ortega isn’t the only one who’s come to admire Wednesday’s teenage take on the Addams family’s only daughter. In July 2023, the series was nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards. 

Who Is In The Wednesday Season 2 Cast?

Ortega will lead Wednesday Season 2 as part-time detective, part-time mystery author, and full-time outcast; she’s also set to produce. Myers (Enid Sinclair), Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Dorobantu (Thing), and Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin) will return alongside Ortega.

Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago) have all become series regulars. Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) will also return in guest-starring roles.

Who Is Joining Wednesday Season 2? 

Wednesday’s world is expanding in Season 2 with a slew of new series regulars, including: Steve Buscemi (The Big Lebowski, Boardwalk Empire), Billie Piper (Scoop, I Hate Suzie), Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill, Lord of Misrule), Owen Painter (Tiny Beautiful Things, The Handmaid’s Tale), and Noah B. Taylor (Law & Order: Organized Crime, Park Avenue). 

You can also expect some new guest stars: Addams Family actor Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley (Fool Me Once, Absolutely Fabulous), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld, Crash), Frances O’Connor (The Missing, The Twelve), Haley Joel Osment (The Kominsky Method, Somebody I Used to Know), Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries, Scream), and Joonas Suatamo will all appear. 

“Our goal this season was to discover some fresh faces and invite some acting legends we’ve always admired to join Jenna and the gang at Nevermore,” Millar and Gough told Tudum in May 2024. “When we survey the talent we’ve assembled, we could not be more thrilled. Mission accomplished.”

What Do We Know About The Wednesday Season 2 Premiere? 

The Wednesday Season 2 premiere is titled “Here We Woe Again.” It is written by Gough and Millar, and directed by Tim Burton. 

Where Does Wednesday Season 2 Film? 

The mystery show has wrapped production in beautiful Ireland.  Gough and Millar call the filming location “truly magical.”

“It adds a sense of timeless beauty, wonder, and epic spectacle to the world of Wednesday,” they explain. “It’s no coincidence that Dracula author Bram Stokerhailed from Dublin, and his stories were inspired by the stories of Irish folklore.” 

Who’s Behind Wednesday Season 2? 

The eerie world of Wednesday comes from Burton, who will continue his role as director and executive producer in Season 2. Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson will also direct. Creators and showrunners Gough and Millar executive produce Wednesday alongside fellow EPs Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Meredith Averill, Karen Richards, Gail Berman, Jonathan Glickman, Tommy Harper, Kayla Alpert, and Kevin Miserocchi.

What happens In Wednesday Season 1? 

Enough twists, turns, and Things to make Wednesday Netflix’s most popular English-language TV series. Season 1 spent 20 weeks on the Global Top 10 and reached the Top 10 in 93 countries with 252.10 million views. In it,  Wednesday enrolls in Nevermore Academy and finds herself in the middle of an otherworldly conspiracy. The ending leaves Wednesday poised to meet her fair share of adversaries in Season 2. 

“Threats remain out there … to both Wednesday and the school,” Millar said. “Not all loose ends have been tied up as neatly as she thinks they have.”  

Wednesday may not be prone to smiling. But even she might break into the smallest grin over the promise of a new spooky case to crack.
