A year later since their murder, 6 murder suspects have been arrested by SAPS in relation to AKA and Tibz’s murder.
On the evening of February 27, 2024 South African Police Minister Bheki Cele called for a media briefing to share the breaking news regarding the investigation of AKA and Tibz’s murder that took place on February 10, 2023.
Speaking at the media briefing, General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said investigations have revealed that AKA was the main target. In his words:
“The main target was Kiernan AKA Forbes, he’s the one that was followed from the airport, he was followed to the hotel, he’s the one that was spotted inside the restaurant and the plan was not to shoot him the manner they did they were going to shoot him in the vehicle.”
